Start with Wilton Trails Northwest

Wilton Trails Northwest uses a former railroad grade with connected loops through the Wilton and Pinewood area. It’s a useful starting point for exploring the trails near Grant Haven. Beltrami County publishes the trail map, trailhead locations, and seasonal use information on its official Wilton Trails Northwest page.

Before leaving camp, ask us to explain the current connection from the property. Match the route to your vehicle and your group’s experience, including any road sections between trails.

Check these three things before you ride

1. Today’s conditions. Rain, maintenance, and seasonal transitions can change access. Check the Minnesota DNR trail status page before setting out.
2. Your route. Save a map to your phone before you leave Wi-Fi, and plan where to turn around, refuel, or stop for a break.
3. Your vehicle and rider requirements. Review the current Minnesota OHV regulations for registration, equipment, age requirements, and where your vehicle may operate.

Camping year-round doesn’t mean every ATV trail is open year-round. Use the official seasonal guidance when planning a winter or spring visit.

Pack for a day in the Northwoods

Bring water, weather layers, a phone with your saved route, and the gear your group needs for the ride. Decide on a meeting point before heading out, ride within your group’s abilities, and give other trail users plenty of room.
